Through the use of MM/TapeSecure, eMag's clients can encrypt their tape back-ups during the copy process via a SCSI device. In addition clients no longer have to manage multiple proprietary backup encrytion methodologies.
- Public key cryptography is used to encrypt and decrypt tape data using asymmetric keys
- These asymmetric keys allow a corporation or law firm to use an encryption key for encrypting the data
- A decryption key is then provided to the vendor for use in decrypting and reading the tape data
- Options for various encryption algorithms, including 3DES, CAST, RC2, RC4, Blowfish and AES
